Privacy Policy

CharacterPersona (“we”, “the site”) is built to be private by default. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the site touches and what it does not.

The short version

• Your assessment answers and results are computed in your browser and stored only on your own device. They are never uploaded to a server.
• We do not require an account, email, or any personal details.
• We do not sell or share your personal information.
• Analytics only run after you explicitly accept them, and they are configured to be privacy-friendly.

Your results stay on your device

When you take an assessment, your responses are scored locally and saved in your browser’s localStorage so you can revisit your result and history. Sharing a result generates a link that encodes your five scores in the URL itself — there is no database holding your data. Clearing your browser storage erases this completely.

Optional accounts

Signing in is entirely optional — the whole site works as a guest, with results stored only on your device. If you choose to create an account, we use Clerk to handle sign-in and Supabase to store your saved results so they sync across your devices. In that case we hold:

• The account identifier and email/login method you provide to Clerk (see Clerk’s Privacy Policy).
• Your saved result tokens (the same compact scores used in share links), tied to your account id. Database access is locked down so you can only ever read or write your own rows.

You can delete your saved results any time from the your historypage (“clear all”), and you can delete your entire account from your profile, which removes your data.

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous usage — which pages are visited and how the site performs. IP anonymisation is enabled. Analytics scripts are loaded only after you choose “Accept” on the consent banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies or scripts are loaded. You can change your mind any time by clearing site data.

Google Analytics may set its own cookies and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies & local storage

• Consent preference — a small flag remembering your analytics choice (essential, always stored locally).
• Your results & history — stored locally so the experience works; never transmitted.
• Analytics cookies — set by Google only if you accept.

Your rights

Because we don’t collect personal data tied to your identity, there is nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on a server. You are in full control: clear your browser’s site data to remove everything this site has stored.

Children

CharacterPersona is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
